The Patek Philippe Nautilus 40th Anniversary 5976/1G will be housed in a massive 49.25mm wide 18K white gold case and will be limited to 1,300 pieces. No matter how you look at it, 50mm is huge not only for a Patek Philippe watch, but for any modern luxury watch.
Things do look a little different when considering the case’s 10 to 4 o’clock diagonal measurement, which is a more reasonable 44mm, compared to the 5976/1G’s lug-to-lug measurement of 49.60mm.
Most 42mm wide round watches have this lug-to-lug dimension, so the wearing comfort should be OK - but the presence on the wrist will still be very noticeable (unlike most other Patek Philippe watches).
